Quauthemoc : Another 13th Crystal Skull - Broken?
2012 has been the catalyst to an emergence of crystal skulls, many laying claim to the title of "The 13th Crystal Skull". These skulls always come with fascinating stories and are dubbed with nicknames.
This is the chronicle of Quauthemoc, a black obsidian crystal skull claiming to be a crystal skull once belonging to the infamous Heinrich Himmler, one of Hitler's inner circle, and therefore called the "Berlin Skull" or "Gestapo Skull".
The adventure begins with the Indigenous people of Central America, the Maya and Aztecs, and their legends of 13 skulls made of crystal. Some of these legends propose that these crystal skulls were once brought by aliens to Earth, and that Dec 21, 2012 marks the ending a significant cycle of the Mayan calendar. This situation has occurred only twice so far in recorded history - first on June 5th, 8498 BC and then on August 11th, 3114 BC, and each time with some serious changes: 10,000 years ago the last Ice Age ended and about 5,000 years ago heralded the beginning of the Bronze Age.
Fast-forward to June 2009. The story goes something like this: Thomas Ritter toured the south of England for crop circles. A path led Thomas to a spectacular crop circle...as an avid enthusiast, he began surveying the crop circle when he was interrupted by a voice seemingly coming from nowhere. Before him stood a man with long gray hair tied in a ponytail with an ageless, sunburnt face, wearing faded clothes. And over his shoulder hung a bag made of canvas.
They soon engaged in a conversation that encompassed crop circles, UFO's, treasure hunting in France, Tibetan Healing and finally the Mayan Calendar and prophecies about the future of mankind. This new personage, calling himself Michael, was very well versed and when Thomas asked him how he knew so much detail on these topics he querried as to his travels. To Thomas's surprise Michael replied that he had not traveled abroad and that the source of his knowledge came from somewhere else. What followed seemed intriguingly eery as Michael reached into the canvas bag and pulled out a shiny black object that revealed itself as "Quauthemoc", a black obsidian crystal skull.
Michael continued explaining that he simply asks a question and the skull talks to him. Immediately this was put to a test as Quauthemoc delivered an answer to a personal question phrased by Thomas which was right on. Michael then handed the skull to Thomas, which triggered an avalanche of images - a vision of the future to be.
Michael then continues to share the story of the skull as he knew it. The skull allegedly was first accounted in the Mayan lands during the reign of Pacal but after the fall of the Mayans, it journeyed to across the Pacific to Asia finally landing in Tibet where it was apparently kept in a monastery for centuries.
Between 1937 and 1939 Prof. Dr. Ernst Schaefer headed a German expedition into Tibet and as these explorations were funded by the S.S. Ancestral Heritage Society, it links this Black Obsidian Crystal Skull with Heinrich Himmler, one of the highest ranking Nazis under Adolf Hitler.
Allegedly, a crystal skull was recorded among the personal belongings of the Reichsführer SS when he was arrested by the Allies on 23 May 1945. Michael then elaborated that his grandfather was present at Himmler's arrest and somehow in an almost inexplicable reflex, his granfather took the skull....and later left it to him.
Michael then shocked Thomas by stating that Quauthemoc wants to continue its journey with him and so a new guardian was found, with a new mission to fulfill - returning to the Mayan lands as the 13th crystal skull.

In a publicity effort, it seems that the Berlin Crystal Skull has suffered some damage. If you read the English newspapers you can see how it was sensationalized as they like to create panic and fear; but the German newspapers provide a probably more accurate account of the incident. If the world ends on December 21, blame a German butterfingers who dropped a volcanic rock skull once owned by SS overlord Heinrich Himmler in his laboratory this week.
According to legend, the Mayan skull, which was stolen from Tibet by the Nazis and imbued for believers with magical powers to enable mankind to survive an apocalypse, fell and chipped during a photo shoot.
For some, this is a catastrophe that foretells the end of the world, but others advise us to keep calm and carry on.
'It was probably put down somewhere a bit wobbly,' an eyewitness told a German newspaper.
'Suddenly it crashed to the floor. A big piece broke off the chin. It's really tragic.'
Thomas Ritter, an historian who owns the skull, said it was given to him by the family of a former British soldier present at the 1945 arrest of Himmler, who ran the Gestapo, the SS and the extermination programme which murdered six million Jews.
He added that he believed its accident wouldn't 'anger the Gods' and that the world will still be turning on December 22.
The skull is 1,000 years old and one of the legendary Mayan skulls that belonged to the lost, ancient race of Mexico, which were said to be infused with magical powers.
The 3lb skull is made of volcanic rock and, according to Ritter, was seized by SS men sent on an expedition to Tibet between 1937 and 1939 to look for the lost city of Shangri-La.
Ritter said: 'The Nazis were convinced that 13 such skulls existed and that whoever owned them would have control of the world.'
Himmler died on May 23, 1945 using a poison capsule hidden in his mouth to take his life.
The Mayans shaped 13 skulls, of which nine were coloured and represented the races of men and four were as clear as glass to represent 'the beasts that walk, crawl, slide and fly'.
They were sent to their places of 'birth' until such time when all were needed to avert the catastrophe man would wreak on the planet.
The Mayans, gifted astronomers and mathematicians, calculated a date for this 'end of days' - the winter solstice, December 21, 2012.

Ancient Mayan apocalypse skull dropped
GLAUCHAU, Germany, May 10 (UPI) -- An ancient Mayan skull prophesized to protect humanity from the coming apocalypse was accidentally dropped on the ground in a lab in Germany, scientists say.
During a laboratory photo shoot in Glauchau, Saxony, the volcanic rock skull named Quauthemoc was somehow dropped, chipping a portion of its chin. No one is sure if someone dropped it or if it fell on its own
"It was probably put down somewhere a bit wobbly," a witness told Bild newspaper. "Suddenly it crashed to the floor. A big piece broke off the chin. It's really tragic."
However, the skull's owner, amateur historian Thomas Ritter, does not seem to believe the scientists will be responsible for the end of days.
"It was a bit of a shock at first, but then I found the damage was fairly marginal, so I was quite relieved," Ritter told The Local. "I don't think it's a bad omen."
Mayan legend says Quauthemoc is among the 13 magical skulls with the power to help humanity survive the apocalypse believed to be imminent -- December 21, 2012, to be exact -- on the last day of the Mayan calendar.
Ritter will be in Mexico that day, meeting with the owners of the other 12 skulls at an ancient Mayan site.
"The prophecy says the skulls will reveal a secret knowledge to humanity on that day," he said. "But I can't say more than that. The skulls might start speaking or something, but I have no idea."
Ritter says Nazis stole the skull from a monastery somewhere in southern India or Tibet between 1937 and 1939. After the war was over, it was found in the belongings of Nazi Interior Minister and Gestapo chief Heinrich Himmler, who was known for collecting ancient pagan and black magic artifacts.
A man who saw Himmler arrested took the skull, and the man's grandson presented it to Ritter in 2009 in Wiltshire, England. He told Ritter Quauthemoc had "chosen to continue its journey" with him.
