Part of the fascination with the Mitchell-Hedges Crystal Skull is its movable jaw. It is rare to find crystal skulls with a detachable jaw because of the additional skilled craftmanship required to carve them as the jaw often breaks during carving.
This particular crystal skull is carved by a master Brazillian carver from high quality Brazilian fume quartz (with a slight smoky tint). It is very clear with some small rainbows. The carving is exquisitely detailed, particularly in the delicate jaw.
