PARIS CRYSTAL SKULL
Musée de l'Homme
The Paris Crystal Skull remains partly in mystery due to its seclusion behind the Paris museum walls. Although it is recorded to be the first crystal skull to have been exhibited in a Museum back in the late 1800's, has been kept away from public viewing until May 20th, 2008 in conjunction with the "Indiana Jones Kingdom of the Crystal Skull" movie release.
Most people associate the Musée de l'Homme as the home of the Paris Crystal Skull but in fact, today it is catalogued in another Parisian museum, the Museé du Quay Branly near the Eiffel Tower. (The photograph above is from their catalogue)
Another little-known feature of the Paris Crystal Skull is that it has a hole in the center of it - there are assumptions that it may have been on a staff, and later perhaps on a cross.
The Paris "Musee de l'Homme" crystal skull has a rather primitive look and the Museum classifies it as Pre-Columbian with Mexican origin.
